I am a Colorado and Grand Junction native. There are (unfortunately) too many things that I haven’t seen or done in Colorado. I’ll travel to go see other folks stuff, but for what ever reason we don’t “vacation” in Colorado. One of these that shocked many of my friends was I have never been to Red Rocks. I’ve driven by it more time than I can count, been on the other side of the hill to Bandimere Speedway for the drag races but never Red Rocks. That all changed when Lori, Jessica and her friend Lex and I went to see Luke Combs. What a fantastic venue. It’s easy to see why its been named Americas’ number one small outdoor venue. It won the award so many times its now called the Red Rocks award. It reminds me of something you would find on the Monument. The same Conservation Corps program that built the Monument also were the ones responsible for making Red Rocks as we know it today. With majestic red rocks and a great view of downtown Denver makes it a perfect outdoor venue. Red Rocks first concert was officially held in 1906. For over 113 years its been the venue to play in Colorado, and I dare say in the US. It was the first time Luke Combs had played Red Rocks, you could tell he was blown away by the amphitheater. When the show was over, he gathered his band and crew and they all took a picture with the rocks and crowd in the background. I’m sure it will be a date he’ll never forget. If you’ve never been it was super easy to get to. Take C470 south, exit at Morrison and just follow the signs. Its maybe 5 minutes from C470. Go, see it, enjoy the sights of Colorado that people travel from around the world to see. After all- it’s our backyard
